TrackBuster – Los Surfin Mariachis – Levante Daze

Back in the late 80’s, early 90’s perhaps, I can’t remember, I went to Spain to work on a Summer Camp for kids in the hills out in the countryside just outside Madrid. I met a bloke from Yankee-doodle-dandy land by the name of Jack Wolfman (real name… isn’t really, just what we called him).

He lived in Estepona, mad as a cut snake, and his dad, who looked like Lee Marvin, played piano in the Hilton in London, so when he came to Blighty months later, we met up, got busted smoking nature’s finest in a massive American Chevrolet belonging to my mate, at London’s Thames Barrier, then… well, it doesn’t matter… I’m merely reminiscing.

Point is, years later, after the Mexico; Tales from the Hip, and South Africa, we, the missus and me, moved to Spain, hooked up with a Cannuck dude called Matt, who runs Adventure Bug, didn’t then, he was a school teacher then, and Kerry, a dude with hair who plays guitar and was the schools’ music teacher, like Jack Black, except I look more like him.

Anyhoo, short story, overtime, they all left school, Matt founded a travel company, Kerry looked after cats, while not at school and they formed a band, a second band, I was in the first as a kind of Bez, the dancer, anyway, the second band is called Los Surfin Mariachas… and who was on rhythm guitar, but mad cyclist Jack Wolfman…

…anyway, that’s my 15minutes of bollocks. Jack as since sadly passed, and his dad, but the other Jack ‘cat’ and Matt dude are still rockling – this track is called Levante Daze, named after the winds from Africa that smother Southern Spain with a warm coating of red Sahara dust – it also just so happens to fit nicely with the wind-up that’s brewing in the storm That is Tales from the Hip Pt26

Till next week’s 15 minutes bollocks folks…

Keep ‘em peeled, – keep it turning, keep it wheel, keep it RadioPrimco
